Chef's Corner

Growing up in Haiti, I would watch my mom cook and bake traditional cuisine for our family and friends. My fondest memory was tasting pâté for the first time. I knew at that moment that I wanted to follow in her footsteps.

Moving to Chicago only enhanced and diversified my love and passion for cooking and baking. As a self-taught chef, I’ve mastered American dishes while combining the best from American, Italian, Mexican, Asian, and Haitian dishes to make my own special fusions. But of course, it is my Rice and Beans that has given me the title of “The Rice Lady”.

Seeing the lack of Haitian representation in Chicago’s food culture, M Catering was born to give that same life changing experience I had with my first taste of pâté. I have the extraordinary pleasure of catering all around the Chicagoland area and neighboring suburbs since 2014. My biggest honor is having repeat clients at Living Word Christian Center, Joseph Business School Alumni Association in Forest Park, Illinois and the Haitian Mother’s Day Brunch in Chicago. However, the opportunity to share my heart and culture with a new duo culinary cuisine, is always the icing on the cake.

“Mom, Isn’t it crazy that I became a chef?” What my mother said at that moment rocked my world, “My dad was a baker”. It’s generational! I plan to keep the cycle going by teaching and preparing the next generation with my love and knowledge of food, catering, and the industry. I will be producing and marketing Épis (Haitian Spice Mix) through the Hatchery, a shared-use professional kitchen on the westside of Chicago. Part of the proceeds will be donated to a charitable organization in Haiti that I am currently sponsoring.
